Nightmares & Dreams

This series of portraits is an exploration of my emotional and intellectual states, created as a dialogue with my younger self and an attempt to bring her dreams to life. These images serve as a mirror to my fears and unconscious biases, capturing moments that speak of both the past and the future simultaneously.

Through these portraits, I sought to engage in an open conversation with my unconscious mind, delving into the biases, hopes, and fears that shape my perception of the world. I believe that our perception of time holds more truth than the rigid concept we often impose upon it. In these images, I strive to capture the fluidity of time, recognizing that there is no permanent version of myself—only ever-changing states of being.

In Spanish, the language of my thoughts, there are two distinct words for the verb “to be”: ser, which implies a permanent state, and estar, which reflects a temporary condition. To me, estar is the only real concept of existence, and I have chosen to embody that understanding through these snapshots of my current mind state. These portraits are not just images; they are tools for self-discovery, a means of exploring the layers of my consciousness.

This work invites you to join me in reflecting on the transient nature of identity, time, and the ways we navigate our inner landscapes.
